Biography

Anthony John was born in 1973 and although he first became interested in the art of magic at the age of seven, it wasn't until 1992 that he began to study it more seriously. He joined The Magic Circle in 1995 and has been performing since then, turning professional in June 2000. Anthony is also an experienced live event presenter, sports commentator, MC and as a charity auctioneer has helped to raise many thousands of pounds for worthwhile causes.

As a specialist in close-up magic, he has amazed and amused literally thousands of people, at weddings, private parties and for corporate clients as diverse as BP, Clinique, HSBC, GlaxoSmithKline, Gama Aviation, The National School of Government, JP Morgan and Tesco.

He has performed throughout The UK at private clubs, top restaurants and hotels such as The Ivy, Claridge's, Brown's, The Cafe Royal, The Belvedere, Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, The Grosvenor House, The Dorchester and has notched up over 100 performances at The Beetle & Wedge. He has also performed at the top of The BT Tower, on board HMS Belfast, at Whipsnade Zoo, Gray's Inn, Oxford & Cambridge Universities, Woburn Abbey, The London Stock Exchange, St James's Palace and Windsor Castle. Anthony has worked in The Channel Islands, Northern Ireland and South Africa and has made guest appearances on BBC radio and recorded voice-overs for television.

Anthony's original tricks and reviews of magic acts have been published in the magic journal, "Abra" and "The Magic Circular", the magazine of The Magic Circle. He has also contributed articles and editorial to industry publications and websites, offering advice to entertainment bookers and event planners.

Outside magic, Anthony's interests include theatre, politics, comedy and music of all genres whether live or recorded. He also plays the guitar and is passionate about the ukulele.
